Free Estimate

At Big River Roofing, our free estimates come with a walkthrough of your actual roof, photos of what we found, and a written estimate that matches what we tell you out loud. That is how Don has run this company from day one, and it is one of the reasons our neighbors have voted us Best of the Best four years running. If you are ready to get started, call (724) 877-7380 or fill out the form on this page.

What “Free” Actually Means Here

Some contractors call it a free estimate and then try to pressure you into signing that day. We do not work that way. When we say free, we mean:

  • No cost for the visit: We come out, we look at your roof, we talk with you. You pay nothing.
  • No obligation to hire us: You can take the quote and sit on it. You can compare it to two others. You can throw it in a drawer and call us in six months. None of that changes anything.
  • No high-pressure close: We are not going to sit at your kitchen table for three hours waiting for you to sign. You get the information, and you decide on your own time.
  • No bait-and-switch pricing: The number we give you in the quote is the number on the invoice, assuming the scope does not change. If we find something unexpected once we open up the roof, we call you before we do anything.

That is the whole idea. You should be able to get real information without committing to anything.

What We Look at During the Quote

A good quote starts with a real inspection. Here is what we actually check when we come out:

  • Shingle condition: Missing pieces, cracked tabs, granule loss, and curling all tell us different things about how much life the roof has left.
  • Flashing: Around chimneys, vents, skylights, and valleys. Bad flashing causes more leaks than bad shingles do.
  • Valleys: Where two roof planes meet is where water concentrates. Poor valley work is one of the most common reasons a roof fails early.
  • Decking: We check for soft spots that suggest rot underneath. You cannot always see this from the ground.
  • Ventilation: An attic that does not breathe properly will cook shingles from below and cut years off the roof. We look at your intake and exhaust.
  • Gutters and fascia: If water is not leaving the roof the way it should, the damage shows up here. This is also where we would flag a need for new gutters or siding repair.
  • Interior signs: If you are comfortable with it, we take a quick look in the attic. Stains on the underside of the decking tell us things the roof surface does not.

We take photos of anything worth showing you, and we walk you through what we found before we leave. No jargon, no scare tactics.

What Our Roof Estimate Includes

When you get a written quote from Big River Roofing, you see the whole picture on one page:

  • Scope of work: Exactly what we are doing. Tear-off or overlay. Full replacement or targeted repair. What materials we are removing and what we are installing.
  • Materials: Shingle brand, profile, and color. Underlayment. Drip edge. Flashing. Ridge vent. All of it listed out.
  • Price: One number for the total job, with any optional line items broken out separately so you can see what they add.
  • Timeline: When we can start and how long the work will take.
  • Warranty: Both the manufacturer warranty on the materials and our workmanship warranty on the labor.
  • Payment terms: What is due when. No surprises.

If a competitor’s quote fits on a napkin, that is a red flag. The Federal Trade Commission recommends getting detailed written estimates from any home improvement contractor, and that is exactly what we give you.

What the Estimate Does Not Include

We try to be up front about what a quote cannot do, too:

  • It is not a substitute for a full inspection: Some problems do not show up until we pull the shingles off. If we find surprises once we start, we call you before doing anything.
  • It is not a guess about insurance coverage: We can tell you what damage we see and document it for your claim, but the final call on what is covered is between you and your insurance company. Our insurance claims assistance page explains how we support you through that.
  • It is not a pressure sale: If you are not ready to move forward, do not let anyone push you into it. That is true whether you are talking to us or to someone else.

How Long the Quote Process Takes

Most quotes take about 45 minutes on site, depending on the size of the roof and how much we need to inspect. Here is what the timeline looks like from your first call:

  1. You call or submit the form: It usually takes you less than a minute.
  2. We call you back the same business day: We set a time that works for you, usually within the next few days.
  3. We come to the house: You do not need to be home for the inspection itself, but most people want to be there for the walkthrough at the end.
  4. You get the written quote: Usually within 24 to 48 hours of the visit. Sometimes on the spot, depending on the job.
  5. You decide on your own time. If you want to move forward, we schedule the work. If you need more time, take it.

If you are dealing with an active leak, we move faster. Call and tell us it is an emergency and we treat it as one.
